A New Blueprint – Planning and Engineering Challenges

Intended for: City and Transportation Agency Transportation Planning & Engineering Professionals

June 1, 2022 - 3:00 pm PDT June 9, 2022 - 11:00 am PDT
Transit options such as Bus Rapid Transit and light rail have been tried and tested in the real world. There are well understood methodologies to plan routes, forecast demand, and deal with practical problems associated with urban deployment. Even with improvements, however, these traditional approaches to transit have failed to keep up with cities’ needs to significantly decrease congestion, address environmental concerns, and provide world-class mobility options for diverse ridership. skyTran is a new kind of transit experience and we want to explore together how this technology could integrate into your current planning and engineering practices, including:
  • Evaluating skyTran against more traditional transit systems
  • Discussing the challenges of deploying an elevated transit solution
  • Understanding community acceptance of new technologies
  • Interfacing with third parties, such as power and communications
Through a collaborative discussion with experienced planning and engineering professionals like you, we hope to increase our understanding of these crucial issues and use your feedback to influence future approaches to project planning and system deployment.
